The price of scrap iron varies by grade, like clean sheet metal, mixed sheet metal and cast iron are each priced as their own category. You’ll find the current per-kilo price of scrap iron for all ferrous scrap grades, including complete scrap cars, in the table above.
Three things: grade, purity and quantity. Ferrous scrap is magnetic “black” scrap, and the easiest way to identify it is with a magnet. The best price is paid for a load from which wood, plastic, sand and other non-metallic impurities have been removed. Cast iron is worth keeping as a separate load. Machines and tanks containing liquids must be drained before delivery.

Copper is among the highest-priced scrap metals, which is why sorting pays off most with copper. We buy bright copper wire, copper pipe, copper winding wire and copper cable – the per-kilo price for each grade is shown in the table above.
With copper, purity is what counts. The most valuable is bright, unoxidised copper wire, free of grease, paint, solder and other metals. The price of copper cable is determined by its copper content: thick feeder cable is worth more than thin appliance cord. Thick cable is worth stripping, as stripped bright copper moves up to the top grades. Keep copper separate from brass, because a mixed load is always credited at the rate of the lowest-value grade.
The price of aluminium varies a lot by grade: clean electrical wire and aluminium rims are the most valuable, while cast and mixed aluminium are valued lower. You’ll find the per-kilo price of aluminium for all grades, including aluminium cables and condensers, in the table above.
The most important thing is to separate the grades and keep iron out of the load. Sheet, clippings and profile are priced in a different category from cast aluminium. You can recognise cast aluminium by its rough cast surface and by the fact that it breaks rather than bends. Rims fetch the best price when the weights and valves have been removed and they’re not nickel- or chrome-plated. Aluminium’s light weight is a handy check: if a piece feels heavy for its size, there’s probably iron mixed in, which lowers the price. Clean the load of grease, sand and plastic, as contaminated loads are priced down according to their metal content and the work required.
The price of stainless steel scrap is clearly higher than that of ordinary iron scrap, because stainless steel contains valuable nickel and chromium. In the table above you’ll also find prices for stainless/copper heat exchangers, stainless steel turnings and titanium.
Most easily with a magnet: most common stainless steel is not magnetic. And unlike ordinary steel it doesn’t rust, so the surface stays bright even outdoors. When stainless steel gets mixed in with general scrap, stainless is credited at the iron scrap price, and you can lose many times its value. We buy stainless steel scrap with a nickel content of at least 8% and a chromium content of 18%. Remove brass fittings, plastic parts and insulation before delivery.

Brass is among the best-priced non-ferrous metals after copper, as it contains a high proportion of copper. We buy brass scrap, brass radiators and brass turnings, as well as red metal and tin bronze – the per-kilo prices by grade are shown in the table above.
Brass is found in taps, valves, pipe fittings and locks, and you can recognise it by its yellowish colour – copper is usually reddish, brass is yellowish. The best price is paid for clean brass scrap free of iron, plastic and rubber seals. Please note that we do not accept brass cartridge cases as brass scrap.

The battery scrap price applies to lead-acid batteries, i.e. ordinary starter batteries for cars, boats and machinery. We also buy clean lead scrap and lead wheel weights – prices by grade are shown in the table above.
We only pay for lead-acid batteries: starter and traction batteries for cars, boats, ATVs and forklifts, for example, qualify. Power tool batteries and lithium batteries are not lead-acid batteries and we do accept them for recycling, but we have to charge for their handling, as they’re classified as hazardous waste. Bring batteries intact and upright so that no battery acid can leak; the acid does not need to be, and must not be, drained by yourself. Clean lead scrap, such as old lead pipes and weights, is worth more than battery scrap, so keep it as a separate load.

We buy electric motors, transformers, electrical cabinets and all kinds of cable. Prices for electric motor scrap and transformers are shown in the table above. Copper cable prices by grade can be found in the copper price table, and aluminium cable prices in the aluminium table.
We buy electric motors whole, and they’re priced by size in their own categories. Gearboxes, belt pulleys and fans don’t count as motor scrap, so remove them before delivery. Transformers must be oil-free, and copper and aluminium transformers are priced separately. Cable is priced by its copper or aluminium content: the thicker the conductor and the less plastic, the better the grade. Complete electrical cabinets, servers and computers qualify as electrical scrap as they are, since they contain copper, cable and circuit boards. If you’re not sure which grade your load belongs to, bring it to us in Kemi and we’ll identify it for you.

The price of electronic scrap is based on the precious metals the devices contain: processors, circuit boards and RAM modules are among the most valuable scrap for their weight. We also buy old mobile phones, hard drives and power supplies. You’ll find current prices in the table above.
In electronics, the value is in the components, not the casings. Processors, RAM modules and motherboards contain gold, silver and copper, and their price multiplies once they’ve been removed from the device and cleaned of heat sinks and other impurities. We buy mobile phones without batteries. Small quantities are worth collecting together, as we don’t pay for loads worth less than 20 euros.
The price of scrap isn’t a single number – it’s shaped above all by three factors:
Market situation. World market prices for metals move daily, and we update our price list accordingly. That’s why our tables always state the date from which the prices are valid – and why the same scrap may be priced differently next month.
Purity and sorting. Clean scrap, sorted by grade, is always the most valuable. A mixed load is credited at the rate of the lowest-value grade, so a little sorting at home or in the workshop shows directly in your payout. Impurities such as grease, sand, plastic and the wrong metals push a load down a grade.
Quantity. We don’t pay for loads worth less than 20 euros, and the listed prices apply to loads over 20 kilos. At the other end of the scale, large loads are rewarded: for ferrous (“black”) scrap loads over 5,000 kg we pay a premium price. For a large load, it’s always worth requesting a separate quote.
We’ve been recycling metal in Kemi for 18 years. Every year, around 3,000 customers bring their scrap to us, and we recycle roughly 800 tonnes of metal back into raw material for industry. We serve private customers and businesses across the entire Sea Lapland and Northern Finland region: Tornio, Kemi, Keminmaa, Ylitornio, Tervola, Simo and Kuivaniemi, as well as Norrbotten on the Swedish side.
You’ll find us at Korjaamontie 9, 94200 Kemi. If you can’t make it in person, order a scrap pickup – we can collect larger loads and scrap cars straight from your yard when needed.
